Last summer, Project Adventure, Inc. played a short film we created together at their annual “ungala” — a twist on the traditional gala. It was a powerful example of nonprofit storytelling in action.
In just a few minutes, their mission and purpose of the “Adventure for All” fund, came alive. Instead of listing programs or reading a speech at a podium, they let their donors talk about why they give. The result? A successful night of giving.
Here’s why you should consider a video to play at your next fundraising event:
According to reports from Convio, emotional storytelling in your videos increases donations by 38%. When donors feel your mission, they give more — and with more confidence.
Whether it’s a black-tie ballroom or a backyard “ungala,” a short film ensures everyone hears the same story, the same impact, at the same time.
Post it online. Send it to sponsors. Use it in grant applications or donor follow-ups. Your gala video shouldn’t only live for that one night. A well produced video becomes an evergreen asset.
If you’re planning a fall fundraiser, this is your sign: Don’t just hope people “get it.” Show them.
