This year marked our 10th year capturing video for the Simmons Leadership Conference, a milestone that feels both exciting and hard to believe! Each year, our team works closely with Simmons to create content that captures the energy and impact of the event while also supporting their larger marketing and communications goals.

Producing Deliverables for the Event

This year, our team produced four pieces for the Simmons Institute for Inclusive Leadership. The first was a set-up day sneak peak. We visited the venue the night before the event and captured some words of enthusiasm with the event’s Executive Producer, Kristen Palson. Every year this deliverable is a sprint – filming for just a couple of hours and turning around the edit before 7pm that evening. Honestly, I love the thrill of it.

Same-Day Event Sizzle

The next was a same-day event sizzle, edited and published to social media the evening of the event. Our team of 2 was filming main stage, capturing video of break out sessions, and networking throughout the space, capturing the energy of the day while our editor Kayla was cutting footage in real time. The final two deliverables were post-event recaps: one focused on sponsorship, diving into why companies invest in an event like this and send their staff, and one centered on attendance, exploring the real value attendees walk away with.

Post-Event Recap Videos

The final two deliverables were post-event recaps: one focused on sponsorship, diving into why companies invest in an event like this and send their staff, and one centered on attendance, exploring the real value attendees walk away with.

This year’s conference was held at The Westin Copley Place, which presented some new production challenges compared to previous years at the Hynes Convention Center. The Westin was a great space, however we were battling with some warm overhead lighting that wasn’t flattering on camera. We adapted by adding compact lighting to our set up to ensure our interviews still looked polished.

Capturing Video of Authentic Attendee Reactions

One unique element this year was capturing attendee reactions to Simmons’ new Thrive 365 initiative, which launched during the conference. Because attendees were learning about the program in real time, we had to thoughtfully incorporate those conversations into interviews while still keeping them authentic and natural on camera.

To top off the day, the closing keynote speaker was none other than Hoda Kotb, which was an exciting way to wrap up an already incredible event!

We’re grateful to continue partnering with the Simmons team after a decade of storytelling, collaboration, and conference production. If you’re looking for a production team for your next event, feel free to schedule a time to chat.
